About Annalena
Annalena is a unique, lovely, ruggedly built classic wooden power cruiser (49’ X 15’) launched July 13, 1951 by Eddon Boat Works in Gig Harbor, WA. She is a one of a kind custom design by famed naval architect Ed Monk Sr. She is lying at Pelican Harbour in Sausalito, California with an unobstructed view of Mt. Tamalpais. She is easily recognized by her distinctive lines and maroon canvas covering that protects her beautifully varnished topsides. She is featured in the guidebook to Sausalito’s Classic Wooden Boats.
Description
Annalena is a roomy vessel, with ample space and plenty of storage throughout. Beginning at the forepeak, the stateroom has an extremely comfortable spacious bed and an elegant wrap-around desk with built-in bookshelf, and walk-in closet with a sink, and a storage closet. One can view the stars and smell the ocean at night through the easily opened, centrally placed circular hatch above the bed. Moving up and aft, the pilot house provides entry from port or starboard sides, seating and storage, and a charming wood-burning stove with a marble platform and backing. Dimmable overhead lighting adds to the memorable atmosphere. Down and aft, the large saloon has a comfortable deep settee to starboard that converts into a twin bed; opposite to port is a comfortable dinette for 4. Further aft in the saloon is a full galley to port with stainless counters and sink, 4 burner propane stove and oven, fridge, and built-in microwave. The head sports a small tub/shower, sink, and electric marine toilet. The stern, formerly an open cockpit, has been converted with the addition of a roof and wrap-around canvas covers with vinyl windows to provide an extra enclosed (solarium) space. There is semicircular seating around the distinctive stern, and a dining table for 6, which can be lowered to support a cushion which transforms the entire aft section into another sleeping area--or nap bed in the sun!
No one who steps aboard Annalena will ever forget her. She has been lovingly cared for, but it is time for her senior owners to downsize and transfer stewardship of this timeless classic to the next generation. She is only 72 years old, and will last another 100 if properly cared for.
